First of all, I am a conservative GOPer who lives in Tucson. I vote very regularly and follow national, state and local politics pretty closely.

I am glad to find this community so to dicuss AZ politics and political happenings.

What I want to know is that now US Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) has sercured the GOP presidential nomination:

1. How soon will he have to resign his senate seat to run for the White House full-time?

2. Does the resign-to run law actually apply to him? Why or why not?

3. Are you glad that he got the nomination?

As for me, JM was not my choice for the GOP nomination, but I am glad he will soon be out of our hair and a real Republican can get his seat.

Thanks for information and comments.

John McCain gives up his seat when he wins the election.

2.Does the resign-to run law actually apply to him? Why or why not?

I don't think so. They talk about it here and you can decide for yourself.

3.Are you glad that he got the nomination?

No, but I am glad Governor Palin has.

Now for the kicker.

“As for me, JM was not my choice for the GOP nomination, but I am glad he will soon be out of our hair and a real Republican can get his seat.”

Governor Janet Napolitano gets to appoint a successor to McCain's seat. She has to appoint a Republican but you know that will probably fill the job with a rhino.
